Saba Teriyaki

Saba teriyaki is very popular dishes that can be found in any Japanese restaurant. This dish is very easy to cook at home and yet very delicious.  Teriyaki sauce is very aromatic and tasty. It can be cooked with any kind of meat or fish you like. I usually prefer it with Saba fish or chicken.

Ingredients (2 servings)

2 Saba fillet (90g each)
4 Sweet green peppers
1 Tbs vegetable oil

Teriyaki sauce:

2 Tbs Soy sauce
2 Tbs Sake ( Japanese cooking rice wine)
1 Tbs Sugar
1 Tbs Mirin ( Japanese sweet rice wine, if there is no Mirin add a little more sugar)
1 tbs Grated ginger juice

  • Wash the Saba fillet, pat dry with kitchen paper and sprinkle some salt.
  • Mix the teriyaki sauce ingredients.
  • Heat the frying pan with vegetable oil and place the Saba fillet in and cover the lid on.
  • Cook 2 minutes each side and remove the excess oil with kitchen paper.
  • Pour in teriyaki sauce and sweet green pepper in, simmer in a low heat.
  • When the sauce gets a little thick turn off heat and serve immediately.
