Tonkatsu (Japanese Pork Cutlet)

Japanese Pork Cutlet is very well known dishes. Tonkatsu is typically served with rice and miso soup. It is also very popular to serve with curry rice and on a bowl of rice with egg known as Katsudon. Recently it also serves as Tonkatsu Sandwich and popular among young.


Ingredients (2 servings) 

2 Tenderloin Pork (1.5 cm thick)
1 egg
1/2 cup of bread crumbs
2 Tablespoons All purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon Salt
1/2 teaspoon Pepper
Vegetable oil for frying
Shred cabbage

Sauce
3 Tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
1 Tablespoon of Ketchup

Preparation:
  • Cut the edge of the pork especially fatty part to prevent from shrinkage
  • Slightly pound the pork slices
  • Season with salt and pepper
  • Beaten one egg, prepare the flour and bread crumb as shown above  
Cooking:



  • Dust the pork slices with all purpose flour then dip into the beaten egg and coat with bread crumbs and slightly press on both sides to cover well.
  • Deep fry the pork in 170C oil for a few minutes.
  • Turn over until it becomes golden brown.
  • Set aside to drain the oil.
  • Serve with shred cabbage and sauce.
