Japanese Sweet Potato is a popular sweet as its name made from pureed sweet potato. a dessert or snack that can be easily prepared at home. Late Autumn to Winter is a season of sweet potato here in Japan. They are naturally sweet and very suitable to make them for dessert or just simply steam or grill them and eat as it is.
Ingredients ( 12 pieces)
300g of sweet potatoes
30 g sugar (more for sweeter taste)
40 ml milk or double cream
1 egg yolk (half for sweet potato ad half to brush the top)
30g butter or margarine
2-3 drops vanilla essence

Ingredients |
1. Peel off the skin, cut sweet potato to 4cm size, soak it in a salt water for at least 10 minutes. (To prevent from getting dark color after steaming) |
2. Steam sweet potato until becoming soft (or cook them in a microwave for 7 minutes), mash them to paste. |
3. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well. |
4. Shape the sweet potato as the picture or as liking. Put them on baking paper and tray. Brush the egg yolk over the sweet potato before baking. |
5. Preheat oven at 200℃, bake them for 12 minutes. |
Ready to serve sweet potato, recommend to serve with Green Tea or Hojitea (Roasted Japanese Green Tea). |
