Shrimp Dim Sum

Shrimp Dim Sum or Siu Mai or Shumai (焼売)is traditional Chinese dumpling which is popular all over the world. I believe everyone loves it including me. I would not mind having it for breakfast everyday. I have never thought of making Dim Sum at home before. It sounds difficult to make a fresh and delicious Dim Sum at home. However I wanted to challenge something new for breakfast so I tried this. The recipe is adapted from cooking program and it turned out so perfect. Let's try.

Ingredients ( 20 pieces)

150g shrimp
100g minced pork
1 tablespoon chopped shiitake mushroom
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 tablespoon ginger juice ( Slice ginger and leek soak in a water)
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
A little salt
A little sesame oil
A little white pepper
20pieces Dim Sum wrapper

Ingredients

1. Wash shrimp and chop well.

2. Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix them well until becoming sticky.
3. Put one wrapper on a palm, add one spoon of the mixture, and put them between the thumb to shape it. Cut the excess wrapper to prevent from getting dry when steam it.
Dim Sum with carrot topping.

Another shape of Dim Sum - Cut the wrapper to the small piece and wrap around the round mixture. This type uses more wrapper than regular one.

4. Place a wax paper on a steamer and spread oil lightly over it to prevent from sticking. Place Dim Sum on it and steam over high heat for 10 minutes. Serve hot with vinegar soy sauce or ponzu sauce.
